Dexdamp/SikaDamp is a pressure sensitive, elastomeric constrained layer vibration damping material. Put simply, it is a flexible, peel and stick sheet which can be applied to a variety of surfaces to reduce structural vibration and noise.
The damping material is covered with a thin aluminum foil constraining layer which improves performance and provides a paintable, finished surface. There are 10 sheets in every box.
Dexdamp/SikaDamp is without question the stickiest damping sheet ever developed. It was designed for the vehicle industry for production line use. Believe it or not it will even bond to oily metal! Ordinary film adhesives can fail if the bonding surface is not perfectly clean, especially on vertical surfaces.
The peel strength of Dexdamp/SikaDamp easily outperforms conventional felted asphalt dampers and does so at a lower weight per-unit area. The super adhesion and conformability of Dexdamp/SikaDamp results in maximum surface contact, critical for high performance damping.
Dexdamp 423/SikaDamp 630 has demonstrated excellent adhesion to CRS, galvanized and galvanneal steel, ELPO and basecoat and clearcoat body panels. Its outstanding adhesive performance allows it to maintain its position in the most demanding vertical and inverted applications, even at elevated paint bake temperatures. SikaDamp 630 maintains its acoustic and adhesive properties after subjection to the various bake schedules and accelerated aging and weathering test conditions used in the automotive industry.
SikaDamp 630 is a technologically advanced formulation that offers superior damping performance at a reduced weight over traditional mastic constrained layer and asphaltic extensional dampers. The damping performance is maintained from -10 degrees C to 60 degrees C allowing use in any area of the vehicle.
